Cantati li me Canti (Sing my Songs)
About: this work is based on themes and stories present in the life and work of Sicilian Folk Singer, Rosa Balistreri. As Sicily’s first openly queer music artist, we find her extreme triumphs, brutal struggles and overall cultural contributions to be often untold and thus, acutely forgotten. THis work was created on commission for first-year students at The Boston Conservatory at berklee. The work has since been adapted and expanded for pavement dance.
